Eye Lift Without Surgery – Exploring Our Options
The ancient sages used to say that the eyes are the mirrors of our soul. Being the focus point of our face, the eyes often define our beauty and the way how others perceive us. Unfortunately, time flows mercilessly, affecting not only the skin on our face and body, but also our eyelids and the surrounding area, making your eyes look old, tired and unattractive.
Sagging eyelids, crows feet, dark circles under the eyes… Eyelid surgery could remove all these symptoms, of course. But you should also know that the skin surrounding the eyes is extremely sensitive and more vulnerable to different complications and unexpected results than the rest of your face. That’s why having an eye lift without surgery is a better option, especially if you take action as soon as you notice the first wrinkles.
In order to write this post, I’ve done A LOT of research. I’ve read many articles about the non surgical eye lift and many reviews written by people who have tried one method or another. Most of these authors start their list of recommendations with the facial exercises. Of course, exercises are a very effective way of rejuvenating your facial skin (including the area surrounding the eyes). However, even if I agree with them, I think that we should put on top of the list of available non-invasive eye lifting options something else: a lifestyle improvement.
Do you know why you’re having dark circles under the eyes? Most of the time, it’s a consequence of sleepless nights and general exhaustion. Do you know what’s causing the puffiness under your eyes (the swollen lower lid)? Usually, it’s a kidney dysfunction. So, you see – no matter what facial exercises you do, no matter what eye lift creams you use, you’ll not be able to get rid of these symptoms without eliminating their cause.
So, the first thing you should do if you want to get an eye lift without surgery is to change your lifestyle: get enough sleep every night – sleep is extremely important not only for the beauty of your eyes and face, but also for your health and well-being. Eat natural products, get rid of detrimental habits, drink plenty of water (water, not liquids! Teas, coffee and sodas will do you no good!), spend more time outdoors and exercise regularly. After a few weeks, you’ll notice a surprising change in your exterior aspect, including the skin surrounding the eyes.
You can move to facial exercises only after starting to apply these necessary lifestyle changes. Face lift exercises can be effective for your eyes as well. You can find several effective exercise programs online – they will tone and tighten the muscles surrounding your eyes, this way providing a natural long-lasting lifting effect.
Combine exercises with a good anti-wrinkle eye cream. Contrary to the common belief, I consider that you should use eye creams even before the wrinkles appear. The only catch is the quality of the cream – a bad one will do you more harm than good, of course. Eye creams, especially the ones based on natural ingredients, have the ability of moisturizing and calming the skin around the eyes, this way reducing the visibility of wrinkles and sagging skin.
However, you should know that there are many kinds of anti wrinkle eye creams. Some of them are simply moisturizing and preventive (you can start using them when you are 23-25 years old), others reduce the wrinkles by gradually improving the texture of the skin (long-term anti wrinkle creams which should be used after 28-30 years old) and another category (the so-called instant lift creams) can plump the skin immediately after application, having a temporary lifting effect. You can also find eye creams that make your wrinkles around the eyes seem invisible by reflecting the light from the needed area. These creams do not change the aspect of your skin, they only create an illusion for the surrounding people.
The above mentioned methods of eye lift without surgery are more or less natural (excepting some harsh eye creams with an ‘instant’ effect). Now let’s explore several options offered by science and technology.
Up until recently, dermal fillers were considered dangerous for the eye area. Still, some plastic surgeons started to use them with (as they claim) positive results. Also named Liquid Eyelift, this procedure makes use of injectable substances that plump and lift the wrinkles and sagging skin.
I also came across another interesting treatment, this time an eye lifting procedure which involves radio frequency. Being converted to heat, these frequencies are making the skin contract and tighten, being effective against crows feet, fat pads and dark circles. This procedure is called Aluma or Thermolift, its price oscillating around $250. It is still in the testing period, so the doctors cannot make any guarantees regarding its safety and the longevity of its effects.
I also read some reviews about thread eye lifts (the procedure is similar to the thread face lift) and adhesive strips for eye lift (a micro alternative to face lift tape).
As you probably understand, it’s not advisable to use the laser technology for an eye lift – the light might easily damage your retina. That’s why specialists are usually avoiding applying such techniques in the eye area. The vulnerability of the skin around the eyes is limiting the range of available lifting procedures, but it’s also protecting your sight from many dangers. After all, it’s better to have a few wrinkles around the eyes than to risk damaging the sharpness of your eyesight.
As you can see, there are many options to choose from when it comes to getting a non surgical eye lift. Just like in having a facelift without surgery, the possibilities are various – some are natural, while others involve the use of technology. Do some research prior to deciding which treatment is best for your particular case and don’t forget that creams and other artificial remedies cannot restore the youthful spark in your eyes which comes only from a healthy, optimistic attitude towards life!
